Installation
Professional fitting is crucial
Our team are all Guardian™ trained and qualified Team Guardian™ members which means your conservatory and your new roof are in very safe hands. The roof itself is tailor-made to your exact specification, then fully assembled in our factory to make sure that every component is present and correct. We then dismantle it piece by piece ready for delivery. Our first job on-site is to carefully remove your old roof before we begin the installation process. On the outside the Guardian™ roof comes with a great range of roof tiles to choose from to best match your home. On the inside you can choose from a modern plastered finish or if your room is naturally bright a Timber finish is maybe the better option. You can also enhance the light into the room by adding a skylight or two and to finish off, why not add some contemporary L.E.D spotlights to bring the room to life in the dark winter evenings. The Metrotile is made from lightweight high grade steel with Aluzinc® coating for incredible strength and resistance and features a unique ‘hidden fix’ feature that leaves no nails exposed to corrosion. Plus the Metrotile Shingle comes complete with a 40 Year Guarantee and available in two ranges.
One of the joys of owning a conservatory is the light, airy atmosphere that it creates. There’s nothing nicer than sitting back and enjoying the view. A typical conservatory is already very light because of the excess of windows but if you really do want the best of both worlds then we recommend a roof window (or possibly two). These very modern products are very practical and give you an alternative option for ventilation as well as the added amount of light that they give the room. Easy to use optional blinds and double glazed for sound and heat protection; they are a great option to consider.
Because the ceiling of a conservatory is typically angled and high, the interior space that you enjoy is often light and airy. Whether you choose roof windows or not, our skilled plasters will finish your ceiling with a beautiful smooth texture ready for painting. Matt white seems to be the most popular colour.
Because we are removing your old roof and installing a completely new lightweight, insulated roof you’ll have a wide choice of interior finishes, one very popular choice is the timber. It’s amazing how the wooden ceiling completely changes the character of the room and creates a log cabin effect which you can then develop with your own choice of finishings, lighting and interior ornaments and art.
Lighting can certainly effect the atmosphere and ambiance of a room, especially if you want your new conservatory to be a multi-use environment. So we recommend LED lighting and you can choose to have as many individual down-lights as you want, plus you can include dimmer switches or even have more than one switch to alter the number of lights that are actually on.

Fully tested and approved to all thermal and structural standards, the Guardian™ roof is a high performance insulated roof system comprising of a pre-engineered lightweight frame, two layers of rigid insulation board, internal insulated plasterboard, exterior grade plywood and a vapour membrane. All together this creates a thermally efficient living space; keeping the warm air out in the summer and preventing the heat from escaping in the winter thus saving the amount of heat energy required to keep the room at an ambient temperature.
Building Regulations
Only since October 2010, has it been officially possible to put a solid roof onto a conservatory or porch.
In August 2013 the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) released a circular containing some basic guidelines relating to Building Regulation Legislation which apply to the replacement of a translucent roof (made from glass or polycarbonate) onto a conservatory or porch with a solid roof.
The Guardian™ solid roof is a strong, lightweight tiled roof and is fully approved by the Local Authority Building Control.
